The Photographer
Meet Ammara.
Some people find their calling. Mine found me somewhere between the rustle of a lehenga and the quiet moment before a bride exhales.
My story
From needle to lens.
I’m Ammara Abbas. I spent years in fashion design, making and altering wedding dresses, living inside the world of South Asian celebrations stitch by stitch. But I kept noticing something no needle could capture. The way he reached for her hand without thinking, the way she laughed when she forgot to be nervous, the things that happen in the spaces between.
So I traded my needle for a camera and never looked back.
I specialize in South Asian photography across North Carolina, from intimate couples and family portraits to engagements, nikah ceremonies, mehndi, and Eid celebrations. Weddings are where my heart lives, but every moment of love and togetherness deserves to be held. This is my world. I grew up in it, I got married in it, in the grand halls of Noor Mahal, one of South Asia’s most breathtaking palaces, and I understand it in a way that goes beyond just showing up on the day.
I bring a fashion designer’s eye for detail, a cultural insider’s instinct, and one simple philosophy: when you book with me, we’re not doing a photoshoot. We’re going on a date. You and your person, just being yourselves, and I’ll be quietly in the background making sure none of it gets lost.
This is your culture, your love story, your legacy, captured in the most beautiful light possible.
Rooted. Romantic. Real.
